Eldon Yaddof's Obituary
Eldon Otto Yaddof, 93, of Camanche, died Thursday, December 1, 2011 at the Alverno Nursing Home, Clinton. Funeral Services will be 10:30am, Monday, December 5, 2011 at Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Linda Keeter Schultz officiating. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery, with military honors being conducted by the Preston American Legion. Serving as pallbearers will be Brady Yaddof, Taylor Yaddof, Corey Yaddof, Matt Thomsen, and Jeff Bergren. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00-5:00pm at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Eldon Otto Yaddof was born on May 11, 1918 in Jackson County, north of Preston, the son of Paul and Lena (Boysen) Yaddof. He married Vera Werner on July 26, 1953 in Preston, Iowa. Eldon was a 1936 graduate of Preston High School. He then attended Coyne Electrical School in Chicago in 1941. He then worked at Climax Company until enlisting in the United States Army Air Corps. He served 5 campaigns as a Flight Engineer, Airplane Mechanic, Crew Chief, and Technical Inspector in World War II from 1942-1946. After being discharged from the Army he was employed at Bob’s Electric from 1947-1963 and as an electrician in the Electrical and Instrument Department at Hawkeye Chemical from 1963 until retiring in 1983. Eldon was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Camanche, a lifetime member of the Camanche VFW, and the American Legion Post #602 in Preston for 60 years. He played the harmonica, piano, accordion and organ by ear. Eldon is survived by his wife: Vera of Camanche; one son: Dean (Vicki) Yaddof of Clinton; one daughter: Sandra (Michael) Bergren of Coal Valley, Illinois; 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; two sisters: LeAnn (Chuck) Barr of Clinton, and Marvis Powell of Andover; and several nieces and nephews. Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters. Memorials can be made to the Camanche Volunteer Fire Department or Immanuel Lutheran Church, Camanche.
