Elaine L. Gelhar's Obituary
Elaine L. Gelhar, 89, of Clinton passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Private Funeral Services will be 10:30 am, Monday, March 3, 2025 at the Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Entombment will be in the Davenport Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the service time Monday at the funeral home.
Elaine Lydia Gabel was born July 15, 1935 in Bellevue, Iowa, the daughter of Louis and Martha (Brown) Gabel. She was a 1952 graduate of Clinton High School. She married Frank Gelhar on November 23, 1954 in Long Beach, California; he preceded her in death on October 22, 2018. Elaine worked for AC Nielsen for 15 years retiring in 1991 and she was a homemaker.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She enjoyed shopping, playing card Bingo during her time at the Regency Retirement Residence in Clinton and spending time with her family.
Elaine is survived by her two children: Sheri (Don) Bodkin of Highlands Ranch, Colorado and Rick (Lori) Gelhar of Clinton; grandchildren: Brian (Hanna) Bodkin, Meghan Rider, and RaeAnn (Kyle) Strack; and great grandchildren: MaKayla, Mia, Torin, Tristan, Bentley, Lyla, Pyper and Maveryck. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one brother Milan Gabel.
