Earnest L. Saunders' Obituary
Earnest LeRoy Saunders, 83, of Clinton, passed away, Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Eagle Point Nursing & Rehab. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will be in the East Iron Hills Cemetery, Jackson County.
Earnest was born June 30, 1931 in Maquoketa, Iowa, the son of Alma Saunders. He was employed as a custodian at Mercy Hospital and Clinton High School. He had also been employed at Central Steel and Machael Oil Company.
He was active with the Clinton Auxiliary Police and the Boy Scouts of America.
Earnest is survived by his siblings, Roy (Myra) Sargent of Sterling, IL; Earl (Linda) Ellithorpe of Maquoketa, IA; Ronald (Sherry) Ellithorpe of Clinton, IA; Larry Ellithorpe of Muscatine, IA; Albert (Leona) Ellithorpe of Walcott, IA and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, two sisters and two brothers.
