Earl D. Farrell's Obituary
Earl D. Farrell, 81, of Clinton, passed away, Friday, November 3, 2023, at his home in Clinton.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30am, Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Clinton AMVETS Post #28. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Knights of Columbus. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. The family requests that you wear black and gold in honor of Earl’s love for the Hawkeyes.
Earl Dean Farrell was born on October 30, 1942, in Whittemore, Iowa the son of Guy and Ursula (Tudy) Walsh) Farrell. He was a 1960 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School in Charles City. He served in the United States Navy from 1960-1963 as a medic. He married Beverly Jean Stewart on June 19, 1965, in Charles City, Iowa; she passed away November 23, 2010.
Earl worked at DuPont for 28 years retiring in 1994. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish and the St. Edwards’s Council of the Knights of Columbus.
Earl was an avid Hawkeye fan.
Earl is survived by his four daughters: Andrea (Sean) Lawrence of Camanche, Nancy (David) Smith of Clearwater, Florida, Lisa (Kevin) Hilgendorf of Spring Hill, Kansas, and Katie (Derek) Riessen of Clinton, Iowa 12 grandchildren Nicholas (Cherie) Lawrence, Stacy (Chris) Powers, Megan (Colin) Sullivan, Jordan Lawrence, Christopher (Nikki) Smith, Michael Smith, Hailey (Grant) Bachura, Dylan Hilgendorf, Logan Hilgendorf, Joshua (Taylar) Riessen, Caleb Riessen, and Emma Riessen; 13 great-grandchildren: sister-in-laws: Mary Farrell of Forest Lake, Minnesota, Darlene Farrell of Algona, Iowa, and Pam Stewart of Charles City, Iowa; brother-in-law: Bill Kyle of Ankeny, Iowa and a special friend: Mary Schneider of Clinton. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters: Ruthie, Rita, Jeannie, and Mary; two brothers: Michael and Ed; and three brother-in-laws: Vern, Darrell and Craig.
Memorials can be made to the Knights of Columbus.
