Duane D. Franzen Sr.'s Obituary
Duane D. Franzen, Sr., 63 of Erie, formerly of Clinton and Albany, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Genesis Medical Center – Silvis, Illinois.
Funeral Services will be 10:30am , Monday, June 29, 2015 at the Clinton Chapel Snell¬-Zorning Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be in the Lusk Cemetery – Albany, with military honors being conducted by the Albany American Legion. Serving as pallbearers will be Ben Quick, Joe Rogis, Loren Andresen, Lonny Boerema, Mike Adney and Karl Franzen. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00-5:00pm at the funeral home.
Duane David Franzen was born on December 11, 1951 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Donald D. and Irene M. (Guidebeck) Franzen. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School and attended Clinton Community College. He was a veteran of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1970¬-1974. Duane married Myrna Udarbe on June 11, 1972 in Manila, Philippines.
Duane was employed at Chemplex/Lyondell for many years retiring in 2007. He was also a licensed realtor with Mel Foster.
Duane was a member of the Erie Christian Church, a member and past commander of the Albany American Legion and served as a trustee for the Village of Albany for 10 and a half years. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
Duane is survived by his wife: Myrna of Erie, Illinois; one son: Duane (Stacy) Franzen, Jr., of Erie, Illinois; two grandsons: Elijah and Kaiden Franzen; and three brothers: Donald (Sheila) Franzen, Jr. of Fulton, Illinois, Bob Franzen of Camanche, and Karl (Tere) Franzen of Clinton.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, his son: Michael on August 9, 1998, and his sister: Raeann. Memorials can be made to Erie Christian Church or the Disabled American Veterans.
