Douglas C. Parker's Obituary
Douglas C. Parker, 56, of Camanche, beloved son, brother, husband, father and grandfather passed away suddenly, Monday, July 27, 2015 at his home.
Funeral Services will be 10:30am, Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church – Clinton. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be his sons Michael, Jake and Illian, Ted Guilliams, Dave Thornton and Scott Morehead. Douglas Clifford Parker was born on March 23, 1959 in Clinton, the son of Roland and Roberta (Nicholson) Parker. He was a 1977 graduate of Clinton High School. He married Mary Holzerland, they later divorced. He later married the love of his life, Debbie Perryman-Mooney on September 5, 1998.
Doug was a self-employed businessman owning and operating Parker Lithograph buying and trading printing presses.
Doug enjoyed boating and fishing for walleye on the Mississippi River and hunting, especially for turkeys, with his good friend Ted Guilliams. Doug was an avid golfer always trying to improve his swing, whether it be outside on the greens or in his bedroom putting holes in his door or breaking the light on the ceiling. He loved cooking, honing his skills for years he became an excellent cook who got great enjoyment from cooking for his family and friends. Whether it was fixing dinner or something around the house he took great pride in being able to accomplish whatever he set his mind to. Doug was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he was baptized, married and became a believer in his lord and savior. Most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, who thought he was the best grandpa ever.
Doug is survived by his wife: Debbie of Camanche; one son: Michael Parker of Clinton, the mother of Michael’s children (Aubrey Barker); two-step sons: Illian Mooney of Camanche and Jake Mooney of Camanche; six grandchildren: Jordan Michael Parker, Kylie Parker, Zach Barker, Alex Barker, Joaquin Mooney and Jaxon Mooney; his mother: Roberta Parker of Clinton; his three sisters: Deb (Rick) McMann of Iowa City, Jacci (Tom) Schlosser of Clinton, and Amy (Jim) Pelletier of St. Charles, Illinois; his father-in-law: Gene Miller of Clinton; brother-in-law: Nick (Chere) Miller of Clinton and sister-in-law Rozanne Guilliams of Clinton; several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs: Bert and Chezzie. He was preceded in death by his father Roland V. Parker, and his mother-in-law Frances V. Miller.
