Douglas J. Kalina's Obituary
Douglas J. Kalina, 65, of Clinton passed away Friday, December 13, 2019 at his home.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be from 4:00 – 7:00 pm, Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Honorary pallbearers will be Kris Kalina, Karlyn Kalina, Bryan Donovan, Josh Watkins, Adam Ehredt and Ryan Chapman. Junior honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
Douglas James Kalina was born October 1, 1954 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Cyril James and Dorothy Mary (Kent) Kalina. He attended Camanche Schools. He married Bonnie Roseland in 1980, they later divorced but stayed the best of friends. He worked as a Union Carpenter Local #4.
Doug was a jack of all trades and was an all-around great guy. He enjoyed tinkering, boating, camping and classic cars. He was an amazing story teller. Above all things he enjoyed his family especially his grandchildren; his family spoke of how he was very loving, a good father and a kind friend.
He is survived by his three children: Kristopher (Renae) Kalina of Clinton, Karlyn (Megan) Kalina of Clinton and Karla (Bryan) Donovan of Clinton; eight grandchildren: Krishel, Orion, Mandolin, Dylan, Patrick, Annabeth, Maggie and Codi; great grandchild Aebrilyn; his ex-wife and life long friend: Bonnie (Leonard) Kalina-Quick of Clinton; two siblings: David (Janet Blazen) Kalina of Benton Harbor, Michigan and Debbie (Paul) Shaw of Clinton; father in law Earl Roseland of Clinton; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Dennis Kalina, nephew Caleb Kalina and mother in law Jean Roseland.
Memorial may be made to the family.
