Doris Petrehn's Obituary
Doris L. Petrehn, 83, of Camanche died Monday, September 26, 2011 at Eagle Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be 10:00am Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Charlotte. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Adam and Tony Bergmann, Ted White, Brian and Joey Petrehn and Eli Schulz. Doris Lucille Huebner was born on February 25, 1928 in Clinton, the daughter of Walter C. and Ethel (Damm) Huebner. She grew up in Teed’s Grove. Doris was a 1946 graduate of Lyons High School. After high school she was an aide in the nursery at Mercy Hospital in Clinton. She married James Michael Petrehn on January 7, 1950 in Clinton. He preceded her in death on August 31, 1973. She was previously employed as an x-ray dark room tech with Bluff Medical Center, a cook with Camanche schools and worked in the layaway department at Kmart for several years. She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Charlotte and the Camanche American Legion. Doris was a fantastic cook. She enjoyed baking, sewing and had a love for animals and the outdoors. She was affectionately known to family and friends as Grandma Lucy. She is survived by four daughters: Christy (Steve) White of Goose Lake, Cathy (Jon) Bergmann of Clinton, Marie (Leonard) Koch of Whitewater, WI and Laura (Ernest) Schulz of Miles; 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Daniel and granddaughter Tracy.
