Doris Catherine Anderson was born on October 17, 1949 in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Arvid and Regene (Dolph) Anderson and helped to be raised by Eva Anderson (aunt) and Phyllis (Smith) Anderson (stepmother). She was a 1967 graduate of Sherrard High School and later graduated from Western Illinois University. She married Douglas Borgeson on March 29, 1980 in Preemption, Illinois and were blessed with over 35 years of marriage; he died January 12, 2016.
Doris was proud to be a music teacher in the Rock Island School District for over 30 years retiring 2016. Following her retirement she taught exercise classes at Curves and also owned commercial real estate that she property managed. She was a member of St. Marks Lutheran Church in Davenport.
Doris’ true passion was her family and more than anything enjoyed being a wife, mother and grandmother. She helped to create many cherished memories over the years with her family at Iowa Hawkeye Football games, Minnesota Twins games, traveling with her family and more than anything the normal days of just spending time together. Doris was a life-long teacher and even in her retirement she enjoyed helping her grandkids with school work, music practice and attending endless sports/dance events. She loved the quiet moments at her home with her dog, Buddy, who became part of her family over the last 10 years. When she wasn’t with her family, Doris enjoyed spending time with friends, traveling with her sister-in-law, Debra Borgeson, taking care of her yard and exercise classes. Her thoughtful and kind manner left an impression on those around her and will be greatly missed by all.
Doris is survived by her daughter: Leah (Cory) Stigile of Manhattan Beach, California; her son: Tarron (Whitney Wiebenga) Borgeson of Clinton; her four grandchildren: Tate & Quinn Stigile, Cole Borgeson, and Renee Wiebenga; her beloved dog: Buddy; sister: Marilyn (John) Carson of Westchester, Illinois; her brother: David (Rebecca) Anderson of Reynolds, Illinois; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Leah & Tarron wanted to extend a special thank you to David & Rebecca Anderson, Debra Borgeson and Marilyn & John Carson for their many trips to visit mom and all of their help over the past few months.
