Donna Wessels' Obituary
Donna L. Wessels, 78, of Camanche, IA, died Monday, November 24, 2008 at the Alverno Health Care Facility in Clinton, IA. Graveside services will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 10:30 AM, with a funeral lunch following at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Camanche. Visitation will be held at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory on Friday, November 28, 2008 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Cremation will follow the visitation.
Donna was born on November 22, 1930, in Tulsa, OK, the daughter of William H. and Ruth G. (Eaton) Ray. She had been employed as a cashier at the Phoenix, Arizona Honeywell Plant in the cafeteria and had been the receptionist for Blohm Chiropractic. She was also a lifelong homemaker. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Donna married James S. Archer in Muscatine, Iowa on March 23, 1947; he died May 24, 1963. She later married Robert D. Wessels in 1965; he died in 1989.
Donna is survived by her sons, Steve (Margaret) Archer of Clinton, IA; Jim Archer of Scott, LA; Kim Archer of Clinton, IA and Tony (Linda) Archer of Camanche, IA; daughters, Ginny (Bill) Eversoll of Clinton: Penny (Mike) Henry of Maquoketa, IA and Ruth (Tim) Harpole of Maquoketa, IA; 22 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and sister, Billie (Tom) McDonald of Laguna Woods Village, CA. In addition to her husbands she was preceded in death by her parents. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association.
