Donald E. Will's Obituary
Donald C. Will, 88, of Folletts, Iowa, passed away, Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics – Iowa City, Iowa.
Funeral Services will be 10:30am, Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Elvira Zion Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 9:00am to the service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Shaffton Cemetery. Pallbearers will be members of the Low Moor Lions Club. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory are in charge of arrangements. Donald C. Will was born on September 15, 1925 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Rudolf and Emma (Gehrmann) Will. He attended SODUS rural school in Shaffton and graduated from Clinton High School in 1943.
Don served in the 2nd Armored Division of the United States Army from September 1950 until January 1954. After basic training he served in Germany from July 1951 until being honorably discharged in January 1954.
Don was employed at Climax Engineering and later was employed by the Milwaukee Railroad from 1954 until his retirement in September 1985 as an agent operator at various stations.
Don was a longtime member of Elvira Zion Lutheran Church where he served one term on the church council and many years on the fall supper committee. He was a 20 plus year member of the Low Moor Lions Club where he served one term as president and many years as the lunch wagon supply chief. He enjoyed gardening, photography and spending time with family and friends for coffee and conversation.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Mary Horst of Clinton, and an infant brother. He is survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Elvira Zion Lutheran Church of the Low Moor Lions Club.
