Donald R. Nicolaysen's Obituary
Donald R. Nicolaysen, 87, of Clinton passed away, Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at MercyOne – Clinton.
Funeral Services will be 10:30am, Monday, November 7, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Springdale Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Clinton AMVETS. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00-4:00pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. A Rose Croix service will conclude the visitation at 4:00pm.
Donald Robert Nicolaysen was born on January 5, 1935 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Robert and Viola (Rathje) Nicolaysen. He was a 1953 graduate of Clinton High School. He served in the United States Air Force from 1956-1960. He married Nancy Frederick on March 19, 1961 in Clinton; she died July 16, 2005.
Don was employed at Pinney Printing as a pressman for over 40 years retiring in 2000. He was a active servant in his community. He was a former member and very active at Immanuel Lutheran Church and a current member of Zion Lutheran Church. He was a member and past Worshipful Master of Western Star Lodge #100, Clinton Scottish Rite Bodies, KAABA Shrine, and secretary of Clinton Hi-12 Club. He enjoyed playing golf and playing cards.
Don is survived by his son: Scott (Julie) Nicolaysen of Albuquerque, New Mexico, his daughter: Kari (Glen) Lystiuk of Davenport, Iowa; five grandchildren: Lindsey, Shelby, Emily (Ian), John, and Evan; and his brother: Robert Nicolaysen of Richardson, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Memorials can be made to Clinton Parkinson’s Support Group at Zion or the Masonic Clothe-A-Child Program.
