Donald L. Henn's Obituary
Donald L. Henn, 80, of Camanche, passed away, Monday, June 6, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics – Iowa City, Iowa.
Visitation will be Sunday June 12, 2016 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, at the Catholic Church of the Visitation with funeral mass and luncheon to follow. Burial will be Monday, June 13th at 9:00 am in Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Camanche VFW.
The Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Donald Leander Henn was born on January 14, 1936 in Elgin, Nebraska the son of Francis and Esther (Schafer) Henn. He was a 1953 graduate of Grand Mound High School. He later served in the United States Army from 1958-1960. He married Yvonne Drummond on January 14, 1961 in DeWitt, Iowa.
Don was a pipefitter all his career retiring from J.I. Case after 30 years.
Don was a member of the Catholic Church of the Visitation, the Knights of Columbus, the Camanche Kiwanis Club, and enjoyed grilling at Camanche Days. He also enjoyed camping and fishing.
Don is survived by his wife: Yvonne of Camanche; his children: Gregory (Carla) Henn of Davenport, Jennifer (Damon) Wood of Kennesaw, Georgia, Gary (Jennifer) Henn of Acworth, Georgia, and Gordon (Teri) Henn of Farr West, Utah; nine grandchildren:Meagan Henn, Courtney (Joshua) Engel, Sydney Wood, Spencer Wood, Isaac Henn, Joshua Henn, Hannah Henn, Leslie (Tyler) McAvoy, and Ashleigh Henn; one great-grandson: Cody Bell; his sister: Ruth (Glenn) Proud, III of Park Forrest, Illinois, and his brother: David (Roneen) Henn of Rock Island, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother: Tom, and sister-in-law, Sylvia.
Memorials can be made to Camp Courageous, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or the Camanche Fire Department.
