Donald E. Heinsen's Obituary
Donald Edward Heinsen, 88, passed away July 20, 2023.
Donald Edward Heinsen was born to Herman and Ella Heinsen in Clinton, Iowa on September 30, 1934. He was baptized on October 7,1934 and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton. He was educated in schools in Lyons, Iowa which, at that time, was the north part of the city of Clinton, Iowa. He graduated from Lyons High School in 1952 with a scholastic honor from the National Honor Society. After graduation, he was accepted at Iowa State University. Four years later he graduated with a BS degree in electrical engineering. Don was drafted into the United States Army where he was trained to program computers. When he had completed his Army tour, he continued as a civilian working with the programming companies he worked with during his time in the service. This led him to work in places generally in the Southwest part of the country. For a time, he worked at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, Fort Hood, Texas and Heidelberg, Germany finishing his career in the Los Angeles area. He then retired in Newbury Park, California.
He entered hospice care on July 20th, passing away the same day. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Ella Heinsen. He is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Ed and Shirley of Granite Bay, California, Bob and Jane of Urbandale, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Clinton Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Nathan Willie of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Clinton AMVETS Post #28. Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes – Clinton is assisting the family with arrangements.
