Donald Hammer's Obituary
Donald L. Hammer, 87, of Clinton died Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at the Alverno. Funeral services will be 1:30 pm Friday, May 27, 2011 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday at the Clinton Chapel. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Donald Lester Hammer was born on May 28, 1923 in McCausland, the son of Frank F. and Mae (Farber) Hammer. He attended DeWitt schools. He married Edith June McDonald on March 6, 1947; she died on October 25, 1999. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving during WWII. Don was employed in quality control at Collis Company until his retirement. He was a member of Chancy Lutheran Church. He is survived by one daughter: Rhonda Rakher of Crystal Lake, IL; 3 grandsons: Matthew (Caitlin), Benjamin (Amanda) and Ryan Rakher; several nieces and nephews and best friend Arlene. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son Gary Lee, 3 brothers and one sister. Memorials may be made to the family.
