Rip Don we shared good times back in high school. We were good friends, and had lots of fun in many classes together. I'm sending lot of hugs and prayers to the family. Your husband and dad was a good fun guy back in high school. Cherish your memories. My thoughts will be with you on the day of his funeral. Sincerely Denise Stutzel Smith.

I have spent the last couple days thinking a lot about Don and our lives together. He is one of my oldest friends, and certainly the closest friend over the last 38 years I’ve had the honor of knowing him. And it has taken me a while to get my head wrapped around the fact that he is no longer right “there” where I can reach out and chat with him at will. From the moment I learned of his passing I have been prone to randomly bursting into tears, triggered by something as trivial as seeing a Coke®️ commercial.
Don was a force of nature. I don’t know anyone who met him, chatted with him (online or in person), or interacted with him in any capacity that didn’t walk away with some sense of care and appreciation for having had their lives enriched by the moment.
He was active in a number of online communities. And anyone who really knew Don, we all knew where he stood on matters that were near and dear to his heart, from friends and family, to current events and politics. He candid on where he stood on issues and lovingly unapologetic for his beliefs. Would that we all had that courage and sense of honor and duty. The world would be a better place for it if we did.
Don and I collaborated on a number of pet projects. He had an entrepreneurial spirit and we spent a lot of time on efforts to write a book or something worth publishing. We didn’t see that come to fruition, but the time I spent while working together on our collaborative projects was, for me, priceless. He had a perspective on the world that kept me on my toes and always thinking about the deeper meaning of things and how they impact not only our lives, but the lives of others.
And I was continually amazed by the depth of his knowledge and expertise. I hold a total of five academic degrees, which includes two master’s degrees (Information Security & Creative Writing), and I am to this day awed by his amassed amount of knowledge. More than that, though, I am thoroughly impressed by his ability assimilate that knowledge and churn out deeply intellectual insights and infinitely pragmatic wisdom.
He was my most cherished confidanté.
He was my mentor on matters of life and liberty.
He was my rock when times were emotionally tough.
He was my advisor on matters of hearth and home.
He was, in short, my dearest of friends.
I will miss him greatly.

P.S. - Though many not know this, Don had an active following in the online community. Since my posts on the various platforms where people knew and interacted with him, I have been flooded with posts asking that I take a moment to pass along their condolences to his friends and family. SO...
On behalf of all of Don's online friends, be they blog-post followers or computer gaming nerds, Don (a.k.a. Binen) will be greatly missed by all.
Marsha, Jen and Family, I am so truly sorry for your loss. I pray, our Good Lord brings you peace at this sad time. I want you both to know that I am thinking of you and your family and you are certainly in my prayers.
Your Friend,
Trish Devers

I'm so sorry! I know my flowers weren't much but they came from the heart. Don was a good guy and he loved my sister and Jen and that's good enough for me!
