Dominic Maniccia's Obituary
Dominic Maniccia, 88, of Coralville, Iowa and formerly of Clinton, died Friday, August 7, 2009 at the University of Iowa Hospitals.
Services will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at 11am at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 from 4-8pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
Dominic was born November 10, 1920 in Nanty-Glo, PA, the son of Eleuterio and Elnore (Alalpezine) Maniccia. Dominic met his future wife, Emma Louise Webb at a dance in Clinton and married her on May 1, 1943 in Clinton; she died May 31, 1999.
He was a United States Army Veteran and served in the South Pacific in WWII. He was a past VFW member and was a member of the Ding-a-lings with his wife for many years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking and singing.
He was employed as a salesman for various businesses for many years.
Survivors include 5 daughters, Nora Woodin of Camanche, Mary Russell of Coralville, Paula (Larry) Bird of Belvedere, IL, Marcia Klinkner of North Liberty, IA and Angela (David) Duvall of Austin, TX, 5 sons, Don (Mary Ellen) Maniccia of Canyon Lake, TX, Randall Maniccia of Austin, TX, Jon (Bebe) Maniccia of Thorndale, TX, Steven (Abby) Maniccia of Round Rock, TX and Jerrol (Mary Catherine) Maniccia of Milan, IL, 25 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents 4 brothers and a sister.
