Dave Van Leeuwen
I first met Dennis in 1955 when we entered Rock Rapids High School both coming from rural country schools. As with Dennis, we both finished second in our respective classes
( I also only had 2 in my class). In high school we played football and spent a lot of time together. Frequent trips were made to Sioux Falls as Dennis had a hot '55 V8 Chevy. After high school our times were limited to the summers and the trips he made to Iowa City after he moved to Clinton. I was in grad school and ironically my wife was from Clinton so we all had something in common. After we moved to Indiana we didn't' see Dennis as much except for coming back to Clinton for family funerals. I last saw Dennis in 2009 at our 50th class reunion in Rock Rapids. We reminisced old times and regret it would be the last time I would see him. He was great and loyal friend and one that I will deeply miss.
