Dennis E. Hall's Obituary
Dennis “Denny” Eugene Hall, 79, of Camanche, Iowa, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, March 20, 2026, at MercyOne Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport.
Known affectionately as Denny or Fran, he was born on November 30, 1946, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Harold E. Hall and Anita F. (Thomsen) Hall. In his early years Denny spent a lot of time with his grandparents Andrew and Evelyn “Ma” Thomsen, where he learned the home construction trade. He graduated from DeWitt High School in 1965 and earned an Associate’s Degree from Clinton Community College (JuCo) in 1968.
On June 17, 1967, Denny married Cozetta “Cozy” K. (Bennett) Peters in DeWitt. They shared 26 years of marriage, raising two children, Dennis Jr. and Tia. Drawing on skills passed down from his grandfather, Grandpa Thomsen, Denny and Cozy enjoyed remodeling and building homes together, turning houses into cherished family spaces. Denny began his career at ChemPlex (now LyondellBasell) in Clinton while pursuing his education, working as a high-density process operator and production clerk. He later joined Flick’s in Eldridge, where his passion for kitchen and bath design in residential new construction and remodeling truly took root. Together with three partners, he founded Kitchen, Bath and Design (KBD) in Davenport in 1984, continuing to contribute his expertise right up to his passing.
On November 17, 1999, Denny married Linda Lampe in Clinton, embarking on a loving 26-year marriage enriched by their strong Catholic faith, shared travels, abundant laughter, dear friends, beloved family and cherished labradors. Denny lived a full life, touching countless people through his work, humor, and generosity. He was a devoted Chicago Cubs fan—forever grateful they won a World Series in his lifetime—and a passionate supporter of the Chicago Bears, Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball. He was especially enthusiastic about Caitlin Clark, whose talent and Hawkeye legacy brought him great joy. Denny shared his mother Anita's fondness for the casino slot machines, often trying his luck there. He was an avid gardener, finding great joy and pride in creating the beautiful landscape that surrounded his home. In 2018 his yard was one of six chosen by the Clinton County Master Gardner's Club to be featured on their popular Garden Walk. He was also an avid contributor to the Clinton Herald, appearing in many editorial pages. He found endless delight in telling stories and jokes for every occasion. He cherished time with his family and extended circle. He always said “I’m not here for a longtime, I’m just here a goodtime!”.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Lampe of Camanche; his beloved Labrador, Shelby; children Dennis “Denny” E. Hall Jr. (Becci) of Baxter, Iowa, and Tia L. Wilson (Nate) of Bettendorf, Iowa; six grandchildren: Cassie Hall, Patrick Hall, Matthew Hall, Zachary Hall, Kailee Wilson, and Kaden Wilson; siblings Dave (Kay) Hall, Dan (Lori) Hall, and Don (partner Tammy) Hall, all of DeWitt; numerous nieces, nephews, and a wide network of friends, co-workers, customers, vendors, and contractors who became like family and enriched his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Denny now rests with his much-loved Labradors—Fancy, Beth, Gunner, Katie, and Logan—forever by his side.
Family and friends are warmly invited to join us in celebrating his life on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Murphy Court – Event Venue & Pub, 2430 12th Street Court, DeWitt, Iowa. Located off Hwy 30 & 61 next to the AmericInn Hotel.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the family, to be distributed among a few of their favorite charities.
