Delbert V. Nissen's Obituary
Delbert V. Nissen, 92, of Clinton passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Fieldstone of DeWitt.
Private Graveside Services will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Nissen, Ethan Nissen, Ashton Nissen, Jason Geronzin, Dwayne Geronzin and Samantha Geronzin. Honorary pallbearers will be Casey Krebs, Tinzlee Nissen and Penelope Nissen. Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
Delbert Vernon Nissen was born March 4, 1931 in Camanche, Iowa, the son of Charles and Sophie (Schmidt) Nissen. He was a graduate of Elvira High School. He served in the United States Army. He married Betty Ann Strating on January 29, 1954; she preceded him in death on July 20, 2021.
Delbert farmed for a short time and then worked at Frito Lay for over 20 years. He was a man who loved to be outside gardening and working in the yard.
He is survived by his three children: Ken (Susan) Nissen of Camanche, Annette Callahan of Highlands Ranch, Colorado and Penny (Dwayne) Geronzin of Clinton; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and two siblings: Janet Merkel and Charles Nissen. Delbert was preceded in death by his wife; parents, daughter Adele Nissen and three siblings: Darlene and Donald Nissen and Donna Kair.
