Our condolences Sue, Bill and Tom. Your family was part of us. Dean and Dad ( Dale Powell) were such good friends and enjoyed there times together in earlier years to those of late.
Dad was having a rough day the last time he visited your Dad but he was bound determined to see/visit with him one last time. He wanted to tell him good-bye and he would see him again.
They so enjoyed that visit. They told many stories/ laughed /had tears and then the final hug ..This was hard on both of them but even harder on me watching it. They are probably having
a great time and Dad asking him " what took you so long" lolol
Rest in Peace Old Friend.. and as Dad would say you win some and you lose some.

I'm so thankful that i have been given the opportunity to be part of the Sarah Harding staff for the last 5 yrs. Dean would do anything for anybody even give the shirt off his back if need be. I will miss our little talks and most of all the hugs he loved to give out on a daily bases. Thoughts and prayer go out to all of his family during this time..Dean will surely be missed..

I remember all the nights of mom and dad and Ruth and Dean playing cards at our house or theirs and I would go along. Everytime I go by their house I just remember all the times there. Now dad and Dean can enjoy all the good times again with their wives

My sympathy to all of Dean's family, He was a very kind person with a great heart. Most certainly a caretaker with his wife and then with Mary Lou. He was a good friend in church and always ready to give a hug and a smile. I am sorry I am unable to be at the service due to a prior commitment. Rest in peace Dean.

Dean was like a stepfather to me. He and my mom Mary Lou Nelson shared many wonderful years together when he met her several years after Ruth had died. For my children he was an extra grandfather- always encouraging them, joking with them, teaching them how to play golf, finding the way to enjoy life even if something difficult was occurring. My wife Jane and I were both so grateful that he brought joy back into my mom's life. She and Dean loved playing golf, cards, and getting together with friends and faithfully attended St. Paul Lutheran church. Dean was a caretaker for first his wife Ruth, and later for mom with her dementia. He was a loving, caring man (even if he did not know sometimes when to be quiet!). He did love to share his advice with others! He showed me how to gracefully accept the loss of your loved one- both by our conversations about Ruth, and later when my mom died in October of 2008. I loved our phone conversations over the years, since I was not able to visit frequently. I appreciated his wisdom in dealing with the loss of your spouse after Jane passed almost one year ago. I will be forever grateful. Thank you to Sue, Bill, and Tom for sharing your dad with my family. You are all in my prayers.
