David Stahl's Obituary
David A. Stahl, 58, of Clinton, died Saturday, February 25, 2012 at his home after a three year courageous battle with brain cancer surrounded by his loving family and friends. Funeral Services will be 2:00pm, Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Jennifer Henry officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Clinton. Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Brown, James Cavanagh, Aaron Bitner, John Martin, Gary Saelens, and Dave Gates. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:30-7:30pm at Zion Lutheran Church. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting his family. David Allen Stahl was born on December 27, 1953 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Grace (Longlett) Stahl and Leon Stahl. He was a 1973 graduate of Clinton High School. He married Lou Ann Carpenter on March 6, 1976 in Clinton. Dave was employed with 3M as a maintenance technician since 1974. Dave was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He enjoyed living the dream by riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle all over the country, playing songs on his guitar and harmonica, riding his bicycle, his family tubing trips, and hanging around the pool with his family and friends. Dave is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife: Lou Ann of Clinton; one daughter: Lindsey (James) Alstad of Decorah, Iowa; one son: Kevin Stahl of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren: Oliver, Kaden, Karly, and Jenna; his two sisters: Barb (John) Martin of Clinton; Lynn (Gary) Saelens of Freeport; his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Vinson & Margery Carpenter of Clinton; two brother-in-laws: Mike (Julie) Carpenter of Clinton and Steve (Becky) Carpenter of Alliance, Nebraska; one sister-in-law: Sandy Peters of Chicago, Illinois; and nieces, nephews, and many friends. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Jerry, and his daughter: Kelsey. The family requests that memorials be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Mercy Hospice, or the American Cancer Society.
