Bill Hallenbeck
I knew of David from 1965 to 1969, in USN. He was short, but made his presence known in all the right ways... always a valued shipmate, and a leader in M Division, due to his enthusiasm, character, and reliable competence recognized by all.
I called him a few months before he died, and he told me about others we served with on USS Compass Island, including Terry Topham and Jim Blackburn. (I was surprised and saddened to see this post, as I wanted to check back with him. Last time I saw him was January, 1969.) From the obit, he did a lot of good in life, and you all can be justly proud.
