David V. Giebelstein's Obituary
David V. Giebelstein, 82, of Clinton, passed away, Friday, March 7, 2025 at the University of Iowa Downtown Medical Center – Iowa City, Iowa,
Funeral Services will be 10:30am, Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at the Gateway Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Lost Nation Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00-6:00pm at the church. Arrangements are being handled by the Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory.
David Vernon Giebelstein was born on March 25, 1942 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Vernon and Mildred (Paulson) Giebelstein. He was a 1960 graduate of Maquoketa High School. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Air Force serving from 1960-1967. He married Edith Matherly on August 17, 1962 in Johnson City, Tennessee.
David was employed with Alcoa until he retired at which time he Drove a truck delivering travel trailers.
David was a member of Gateway Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and telling jokes and stories.
David is survived by his wife: Edith of Clinton; their children: David (Lorie Warner) Giebelstein, Jr. of Clinton, Lori Giebelstein of Clinton, Bruce (Diane) Giebelstein of Clarence, Iowa, Shannon (Eric) Decker of Clinton, and Shawn (Lori) Giebelstein of Altoona, Pennsylvania; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and his brother: Dennis Giebelstein of Clinton. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials can be made to the Gateway Baptist Church.
