Jay Naftzger (Randy)
How it saddened me to see that Dave passed. He and my father, Dutch Naftzger, worked together many years on many new homes, remodels and farm structures and I had the pleasure and good fortune of working alongside Dave many summers. The common theme on the other remembrances is Dave's kindness, gentleness and good humor and I can attest that those virtues were extended to a child and adolescent who undoubtedly was more of a nuisance than a help on the job. I always looked forward to seeing him and hearing his distinctive voice. One memory that always makes me smile is of Dave's framing hammer. My father and I used the same hammer for all aspects of the job, but Dave had a separate hammer for framing that had a waffled head. When he drove the spike home, the hammer left a waffled hammer mark in the wood. You could see every 16 penny cement coated sinker Dave had driven! My sympathies to all on your loss.
