David F. Broadrick Jr.'s Obituary
After 13 years of fighting cancer, David Broadrick finally had to quit the fight on March 26, 2018. David Was born Feb. 2, 1936 to Emma and David Broadrick Sr. the oldest of two boys. He grew up on 16th Ave So, in South Clinton, where he lived for 70 years, raising how own family in this tight knit community.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 am, Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church – Clinton. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Those laying David to rest will be his sons, William, James, Thomas and Mathew. With honorary pallbearers being grandsons, Michael, Jacob, Brent, Todd, and Austin, and great-grandsons Emerson, and Maverick.David was well known for many things, his carpentry skills being one of them. The Clinton County Courthouse and Administration building have been blessed with his workmanship over the 15 years that he was the Maintenance Supervisor for all of the Clinton County Buildings.
Baseball was a passion from youth, he had the nickname of Dusty all throughout school, being a catcher, you always would come off the field dusty. He coached little league when his boys were young, was a member of the Board of Directors at the ball park for many years, as well as a member of the board for the Clinton Pony League.
At the beginning of 2016 Dr. Link, his cancer doctor, asked him what his plans were for that year. He replied with, my grandson graduates in May, we roof the house in June, my grandson gets married in July, we celebrate our 60th Wedding Anniversary in September and October the Cubs will win the World Series. This last was for Dr. Link, the die-hard Cubs fan. They went back and forth every year during baseball season since David was a Cardinals fan.
The Love of his family, if you talked to David for any length of time you were sure to hear about one of his children, there are 5 of them, his wife, Mary who he has been married to for 61 years, any one of his 9 grandchildren or 5 great grandchildren. All of whom will miss him dearly.
David leaves behind his wife Mary, sons William, James (Barbi), Thomas (Deb), and Mathew (Julie) Broadrick, as well as his daughter Sandra Engleking. Grandchildren Michael (Jenny), Jacob (Ursula), Brent, Todd Broadrick, Melissa (Kris) Olmstead, Dana (Alex) Scott, Erin Broadrick, Ashley (Shane) Lieferman, and Lance Corporal Austin Engleking. Great grandchildren Raquel Broadrick, Isabelle Scott, Lynnea Olmstead, Emerson and Maverick Lieferman. Brother Bob (Sue) Broadrick, Vinton, IA.
David was proceeded into heaven by his parents Emma and David Broadrick, a son in law Allen Engleking, and a daughter in law Debbie Broadrick.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.
