David Atwater's Obituary
David L. Atwater, 62, of Clinton, died Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center, North Campus, Clinton. Funeral Services will be 10:30am, Saturday August 29, 2009 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in the Rossiter Cemetery in Charlotte with military honors being conducted by the Clinton AMVETS Post #28. Serving as pallbearers will be Pat Atwater, Rick Atwater, John Kane, Ken Behn, Jason Drury, and Joshua Mitchell. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be James Schmidt, Arnold Kracht, and Carlos Ferrell. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00-8:00pm at the funeral home. David Lawrence Atwater was born on May 9, 1947 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Richard and Leona (Reed) Atwater. He married Bernadette R. Schmidt on March 16, 1973 in Davenport, Iowa. David attended Davenport Central High School. He was a veteran of the United States Marines during Vietnam from 1964-1968. David was employed at Oscar Mayer in Davenport for 28 years before retiring in 2002. David was a member of the Eagles Club, enjoyed classic cars and his grandchildren. David is survived by his wife: Bernadette of Clinton; one son: James (Sally) Atwater of Charlotte, Iowa; one daughter: Sheila Andresen of Clinton; two grandchildren: Jessica Stoller and Natalie Andresen, a great grandson: Parker Stoller; his step-father: Richard Bergert of Davenport, two brothers: Richard (Sherry) Atwater and Patrick Atwater of Davenport; and several nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his mother, father, two brothers, and one sister. Memorials can be made to the family.
