Darrell Goldensoph's Obituary
Darrell A. “Goldie” Goldensoph, 73, of Camanche, died Monday, February 15, 2010 at his home. Funeral Services will be 1:00pm, Thursday, February 18, 2010 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00-8:00pm at the funeral home. Following the services the body will be cremated. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons: Axel Seikola, Jason Petersen, Phil Goldensoph, Sawyer Basel, Seamus Wilkerson, Michael Wilkerson, Chris Eyer, and Jacob Tenboer. Darrell A. Goldensoph was born on August 8, 1936 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Louis and Viola (Berner) Goldensoph of Low Moor. He attended both Clinton and DeWitt High School where he enjoyed playing football and wrestling. He graduated from DeWitt High School in 1954. He married Diane Hinrichsen in December 1957. He later married Patricia Wilkerson in November 1973; she later died October 2002. He was employed at Allied Steel, Dairy Pak, and Alcoa retiring from there after 37 years in 2000. He loved to spend time with his family. He enjoyed watching baseball, football, especially his “Cubbies” and Bears. He is survived by his daughters: Dawn Neubauer of Clinton, Aliscia Basel of Ames, Iowa; sons: Darrek Goldensoph of Camanche, and Darren Goldensoph of Ames, Iowa; four stepsons: Steve (Renee) Wilkerson of Ankeny, Keith (June) Wilkerson of Pennslyvannia, Randy Wilkerson of Ames, and Kerry (Rose) Wilkerson of Ames; 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, and 6 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers, and an infant son: Darcy. The family requests that memorials be made to the family.
