Darrel M. Thomsen's Obituary
Darrel Marvin Thomsen, 91, died peacefully at Kahl Home in Davenport on Saturday October 11, 2025. He was born January 23, 1934, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Marvin and Grace (Helferich) Thomsen. He is survived by his wife, Clarice Thomsen, his children Carie Thomsen-Gordon, Teri Thomsen and Ede Thomsen, his grandson Landon Gordon, two brothers: Mike Thomsen and Ron Thomsen, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Bette Kohler. He served in the Army for 2 years stationed in South Korea during the Korean War. He attended the University of Iowa and obtained his master’s degree in engineering. He spent the majority of his career working as an engineer for the Army at Rock Island Arsenal. He also farmed and owned farmland in both Iowa and Illinois. After his retirement from the Arsenal, he worked for the State of Illinois EPA until he retired at the age of 70. He will be buried in the VA Memorial Cemetery at Rock Island Arsenal.
