Daniel Lee "Sully" Sullivan's Obituary
Daniel Lee “Sully” Sullivan, 74, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Manor Care, Davenport. A celebration of Sully’s life will be held from 3:00PM to 7:00PM Saturday, February 26, 2022 at the Clinton AMVETS Club. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting snellzornig.com.
Daniel was born June 21, 1947 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Robert and Betty (Friis) Sullivan. He was a 1966 Clinton High School graduate and attended Clinton Community College for a year and a half. Daniel was a United States Army Veteran serving in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive in 1967 and 1968. While on R&R in Australia he sang with Frankie Avalon.
Daniel married Betty Barsema on October 22, 2015 in Clinton.
Daniel was an active member of the Clinton AMVETS and was the State of Iowa, AMVETS financial officer. He enjoyed his VA Casting Away Disabilities Group, enjoyed fishing, antique cars, especially his 1963 Buick LeSabre and was an avid music fan, including Frank Sinatra and Frankie Avalon. He was on the first Quad Cities Vietnam Veteran Honor Flight.
Survivors include his wife, Betty of Clinton; daughters, Christine (Jason) Grant of Clinton and Lois (John) Wilson of Oaks, Iowa; four grandchildren and his sister, Julie (Frank) Tucker of Clinton.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and many friends.
Memorials may be made to the AMVETS, the Clinton Moose Lodge or VA Casting Away Disabilities Group.
