Dan Birdsley's Obituary
Dan Birdsley, 66, of Clinton passed away, Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Unity Point – Rock Island.
Visitation will be Friday, May 7, 2021 from 4:00-7:00pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. A short prayer service will conclude the visitation at 7:00pm.
Daniel George Birdsley was born October 12, 1954 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Hiram and Gertrude (Simpson) Birdsley. He was a 1973 graduate of Camanche High School and St. Ambrose in 1976. He also did some post graduate work at Northern Illinois University. He married Sara “LeeAnn” Lohaus on September 18, 1993 in Clinton.
Dan worked for the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office for 30 years retiring in April 2014 as a lieutenant and in charge of investigations. After retirement he delivered meals for Milestones.
Dan served on the Camanche Volunteer Fire Department for 15 years and served on the Ascentra Board of Directors. He enjoyed traveling and taking rides on his Harley. He also played Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus with his wife for over 20 years.
Dan is survived by his wife: LeeAnn of Clinton; children: Michelle Birkett of Hampton, Illinois, and Matt (Jessica) Birdsley of Sterling, Illinois; his grandkids: Taylor & Kyli Birkett, and Braden, Madison, and Brynlee Birdsley; great-granddaughter: Ava; and brothers: Robert (Jerri) Weber of Camanche, Donald Rhode of Arizona, and David (Cathy) Birdsley of Camanche; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
