Dale L Sharp's Obituary
Dale L. Sharp, 81, of Camanche passed away Monday, December 12, 2022 at his home following an extended battle with Leukemia.
Visitation will be from 9:00am-11:00am on Saturday, December 17, 2022 with a Celebration of Life immediately following at the Camanche Chapel of Snell-Zornig Funeral Home. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Army.
Dale L. Sharp was born on May 27, 1941 in Volga City, Iowa. He was the son of Wayne and LaVera (Otterbeck) Sharp. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1960 and attended Clinton Community College before enlisting in the United States Army. He served with the 472nd Military Police Yukon Command in Fairbanks, Alaska until being transferred to Augusta, Maine. He served from 1963-1966. He was united in marriage with Sharon Lorenzen on July 14, 1964 while stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Dale began his career in carpet installation and carpentry with Kennedy & Peterson, later with Moody’s Carpet Manor, and had been self-employed for the last 30 years. He was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in March of 2020 and was given a grim diagnosis. He responded well to treatment extending his life for almost three more years. Dale loved playing cribbage and other card games, his annual trips to Wisconsin with Sherry, going for a boat ride, keeping his lawn immaculate and constantly tinkering on some project. He was known for his funny most-bestest turn of phrase, and giving people a hard time. He will be greatly missed.
Dale is survived by his wife, Sherry of Camanche, IA; two daughters, Brenda Jacobs of Camanche and Susan Sharp of Galesburg, IL; three grandsons, Nate Jacobs (Megan Svoboda) of Johnston IA, Nic Jacobs of Camanche, IA and Noah Jacobs of Camanche, IA; siblings Janet (Loren) Peterson of Clinton, IA, David (Betty) Sharp of Baraboo, WI and Doug (Carol) Sharp of Camanche.
Dale is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mary Jo Fahlbeck, two brothers, Duane & Darrold, and two infant siblings Barbara and Ronald.
Memorials may be directed to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the American Legion.
