D. Jeanne Brown passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a brief illness on Monday, February 5, 2024 at Bickford Cottage, Clinton, Iowa.
Memorial Services will be 5:00 pm, Friday February 9, 2024 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until the service time at the funeral home. She and her husband’s urns will be buried privately at St. Irenaeus Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting her obituary at www.snellzornig.com.
Jeanne was born on June 7, 1930 in Maquoketa, Iowa, the first of three to Ray and Glendola Sagers Streets. She attended Anderson Country School through 8th grade and graduated from Maquoketa High School in 1948. On September 3, 1949 she married Maynard Brown. They were blessed with 69 years together and three children.
During her working years, in addition to raising her family she worked clerical jobs and was the Purchasing Agent at Jane Lamb Hospital. She and Maynard enjoyed many years of golf, gardening, family, friends and neighbors. They both retired in 1992. After Maynard passed away in August of 2018 and Jeanne moved to Bickford Cottage, she enjoyed a new family of people that she was welcomed into. She enjoyed her time of 5 years there with the other residents and staff.
She is survived by her children: Kerri Schmalfeldt, Mike (Mary) Brown and Kathi (Tim) Sherman all of Clinton; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Lois Streets and Carolyn Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, brother and her son-in-law Jack Schmalfeldt.
Memorials may be made to the family to be designated to a charity of her choice.
