Constance "Connie" J. Baker's Obituary
Constance “Connie” J. Baker, 75, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Genesis East, Davenport. Services for Connie will be 10:30AM Wednesday August 21, 2024 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2024 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at the funeral home and from 9:30 until the service hour Wednesday. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery, Clinton. Constance Melchiorri was born September 28, 1948 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Margaret (Jackson) Melchiorri. She was a 1967 Clinton High School graduate.
Connie was employed at Eagle Foods for more than 22 years prior to retiring.
Connie was athletic her whole life; she played tennis in high school and spent many years playing league softball winning several honors. She married and had two children. Time with family and friends was spent having fun camping on the river, water skiing, shooting pool, having get-togethers at the park playing volleyball, or family gatherings for every occasion in the backyard (of her parents, her siblings, or her own). She always loved the outdoors and stayed busy working in her yard and tending her flowers.
Connie and Larry enjoyed traveling during their marriage of six years. After he passed, she continued to spend time traveling, volunteering at Mercy One, enjoying a good TV show or movie, and playing cards with her friends. Family was everything to her, and if you were in her presence, you were always well cared for, (you would never be hungry or thirsty). She loved spending time with her grandchildren, often having them over for sleepovers. She was always ready for fun and laughs; and often she was the one who brought them. She will be missed dearly.
Survivors include her children, Jody Minor (Marty Ranweiler) of Phoenix, AZ and Melissa (Brian) Minor-Jost of Eldridge, IA; four grandchildren; Ethan Jost, Abby Minor, Kate Jost and Carly Minor; and siblings, Ron (Ruthann) Melchiorri of Camanche, IA; Carla (Steve) Schrader of Camanche, IA and Cindy (Randy) Gilbert of Clinton, IA and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Larry Baker.
