Connie Andersen's Obituary
Constance “Connie” Andersen, 71, of Clinton, passed away, Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics – Iowa City, Iowa.
A Funeral Mass will be 10:30am, Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the church. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Nick Giunta, John Giunta, J.J. McClimon, Mike McClimon, Bryan McClimon, and Derek McClimon. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Craig Ketelsen, Mike Andersen, David McClimon, Neal Andersen, and Brad Thomas. Constance Virginia McClimon was born on February 28, 1947 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Virginia (Dolan) McClimon. She was a 1965 graduate of St. Mary’s High School and a 1967 graduate of Mt. Saint Clare. She married Larry Andersen on August 15, 1969 in Clinton.
Connie was a office clerical assistant at Longfellow Elementary School and Bluff Elementary School for over 20 years until retiring in 2009.
Connie was a member of Prince of Peace Parish where she played the organ. She enjoyed camping and traveling all over the world including to Hawaii, the Caribbean, Italy, Ireland and England. Seeing the Pope at the Vatican was the highlight of her travels. She completely enjoyed and was very talented at playing music for church and many celebratory functions. Connie was also a vocal advocate for others who were not able to voice for themselves.
Connie is survived by her husband: Larry of Clinton; three daughters: Dana (Shannon) Spooner of Clinton, Melissa (James) Grossman of Chicago, and Angela Andersen of Clinton; her grandson: Logan Spooner; two brothers: Patrick McClimon and Lawrence McClimon of Clinton; and her sister: Kathleen Giunta of Johnston, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Gerald.
