Christine "Chris" A. Herman's Obituary
Chris A. Herman passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 8, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. To honor her wishes Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with cremation and there will be no services. She was born in Waukon, Ia on December 21, 1959, to Jean Stone and Karl Herman. She lived in Clinton, where she worked at Target for 21 years. She loved being retired. Her absolute favorite thing was spending time with her family.
Our Mom was and will always be the strongest person we have ever known. She was fierce and wasn’t afraid to say what needed to be said. She was tough when she needed to be and loving at the same time. She was always there, showing up for those she loved. She was beautiful and funny and simply amazing. She is the greatest Mom to us, and we consider ourselves very lucky to be her kids. She always told us how much she loved us and her grand/great grandchildren. She left us with no doubt about how much we meant to her. We can only hope that she knows exactly what she means to us. She is the heart and soul of our family. Losing her has broken our hearts in ways that we didn’t realize was possible. She is loved to the heavens and back and will be deeply missed until we see her again.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Karl Herman, Jean and Marshel Edmundson, her sister Jenny Herman and brother Nate Herman, a niece and a great nephew. She leaves behind her children, Jean (Brian) Gorzney of Clinton, and Justin (Dawn) Herman of Mt. Carroll, Il, 7 grandchildren (Tequila, Chance, August, Justin, Ryder, Holden, and Daxton) and 2 great grandsons (Braxtyn and Jaxcen), her sister Paula Herman of Clinton, brothers Greg Herman and Max Herman, both of Clinton, and estranged siblings Karl Herman of Camanche, Ia and Julia Hammer of Milan, Il.
“No one prepared me for the silence of a world without my mother’s voice. Her absence echoes louder than any sound I’ve ever known.”
