Cheral J. Thoms, 86, of Clinton, passed away, Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center, surrounded by her family.
Private services will be held. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family.
Cheral Juleen Thoms was born on January 15, 1929 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of William and Gladys (Dierks) Petersen. She was a 1947 graduate of Clinton High School. She married Jackson Thoms on August 27, 1949 in Clinton; he died May 1, 1999.
Cheral was employed in medical records at the former Jane Lamb Hospital. She was also employed with Clinton Corn.
Cheral was a member of Chancy Lutheran Church, volunteered countless hours with Mercy Auxiliary, and was a member of Tri-S. She enjoyed playing bridge, and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the best mom and grandma EVER.
Cheral is survived by her two sons: David Thoms of Clinton and Brian Thoms of Clinton; her daughter: Laurel (Tom) Day of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and one brother: James Petersen of Clinton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, and two sisters.
Memorials can be made to Chancy Lutheran Church or Mercy Auxiliary.
