Charles L. Turner's Obituary
Charles L. Turner, 84, of Clinton, passed away, Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the Alverno.
Funeral Services will be 11:00am, Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the Church of the Open Door – Clinton. Visitation will be from 3:00-5:00pm at the church on Friday and from 10:00am to the service time Saturday. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family.
Charles LeRoy Turner was born on October 3, 1936 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of William and Marie (Bahnsen) Turner. He was a 1954 graduate of Clinton High School. He later served in the United States Army from 1962-1965. He married Janet “Jan” Terry on October 29, 1962; she passed on June 26, 2002.
Charles worked at Waukesha Motors for many years. He also worked at Pinkerton Security and McClane’s Office Supply. He was a member of the Church of the Open Door. He was an avid sports fan; following the Chicago Cubs, Bears and Iowa Hawkeyes.
Charles is survived by his sons: Charles (Jody) Turner, Jr. and Paul (Melinda) Turner both of Clinton; three grandchildren: Marcus, Heather, and AJ; his sister: Donna Knight of Big Spring, Texas, and Bobby Turner of Greenfield, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a half-brother.
