Charles R. Thompson's Obituary
Charles “Charlie” R. Thompson, 81, of Clinton, IA, passed away Monday, February 17, 2014 at Eagle Point Nursing & Rehabilitation. According to his wishes, Charles will be cremated and private family services will be held at a later date. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory assisted the family with arrangements.
Charles was born October 11, 1932 in Belvidere, NE, the son of James Irving and Marie (Sinn) Thompson. He married Arlene “Jo” Greve, they later divorced. He was self employed in the construction field his entire life.
Charles was a Korean War veteran, serving in the United States Marine Corps.
Survivors include sons, Robin (Linda) Thompson of Wilmington, IL; Charles “Chuck” Thompson, Jr.; Richard “Rick” Thompson and Jim Thompson all of Clinton; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Alvin (Elva) Thompson of Camanche and Perry (Marlene) Thompson of Florida and Sister, Minnie Havelin of Silvis, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a brother.
