Charles F. Murphy's Obituary
Charles F. Murphy, 88, of Camanche, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2022 at the Iowa VA Home in Marshalltown.
Memorial Services will be 12:00PM (Noon), Sunday, July 24, 2022 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be 9:00AM Monday at the Clinton Lawn Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be 11:00AM to Noon Sunday at the funeral home. Charles Francis Murphy was born on February 2, 1934 in Clinton, the son of Kenneth and Kathryn (Renkes) Murphy. He served in the United States Air Force as a flight engineer from 1957 to 1963. He married Alberta Wiebers Pendleton on August 1, 1970 in Camanche, Iowa.
Charles was an auto mechanic at Machael Oil Company, John Townsend’s Filling Station and many other garages prior to retiring.
Charles enjoyed restoring old vehicles, boating, fishing, going to garage sales and repairing antique fans. He enjoyed tinkering and fixing things for his family and friends.
Charles is survived by his wife: Alberta of Camanche; step-children, Sharon Terry of Des Moines; Larry (Lori) Pendleton of Camanche; and Lynette (Patrick) Graves of Clinton; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a son: Charles Murphy of Creedmoor, North Carolina; sister, Priscilla (Herb) Stedman of Colorado and niece, Cindy Dixon of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Julie Murphy.
