Charles H. Himes' Obituary
Charles H. “Chuck” Himes, 90, of Clinton, Iowa died, Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Mercy Living Center South, Clinton. Memorial services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, October 12, 2012 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the service hour at the funeral home.
Chuck was born December 28, 1921 in Enid, OK, the son of Grover David and Marie (Meiers) Himes. He married Betty Kenyon in Enid, OK, on March 27, 1946.
Chuck was a very active Kiwanis member for 32 years. He enjoyed working in his yard, golfing, bowling, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
He retired in 1975 from the U.S. Army as Command Sergeant Major after 30 years in the artillery. He was a veteran of WWII, Korea and Viet Nam.
Survivors his wife, Charlene Betty Himes of Clinton; daughter, Charlotte Marie Colberg of Tulsa, OK and brother, Benny Lee (Patsy) Himes of Tulsa, OK.
Chuck was preceded in death by his son, Russell Gene Himes, parents, two brothers and six sisters.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
