Charles W. Byers' Obituary
Charles W. Byers, 76 of Clinton passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at the Bettendorf Health Care Center.
Funeral Services will be 11:30 am, Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the service hour Saturday at the funeral home. Charles William Byers was born August 25, 1941 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Charles Frederick and Helen Irene (Ranslow) Byers. He was a 1960 graduate of Clinton High School. He married Linda Tompkins on October 14, 1961 at the First Church of God in Clinton.
Chuck worked for Clinton Corn and then for ADM for a total of 42 years when he retired in 2006 due to an illness. He enjoyed watching birds, making bird houses, and spending time with his family. He was a classic car enthusiast and enjoyed attending car shows. He also embraced the fellowship of the Regency Retirement family where he resided.
He is survived by his loving wife Linda of Clinton; four children: Barbara Armstrong of Clinton, Cynthia (Dale) Cramer of Clinton, Susan (Daniel) Carlson of Fulton, and Daniel (Renay) Byers of Fulton; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Rebecca, one sister, and one son-in-law.
