Charles Alvin Bentley's Obituary
Charles A. “Chuck” Bentley, 75, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2024 at Genesis East, Davenport. Services will be held at 10:30AM Thursday, October 24, 2024 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig. Visitation will be held from 4:00PM to 7:00PM Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Phillip Cassaday, Seth Bentley-Holst, Brandon Bentley, Greg Reckman, Ryan Simmons and Thomas Bentley II. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Wilson, Steve Pecchio, Shane Davis, Shaune Kennedy and Larry Bentley. Online condolences may be expressed at snellzornig.com.
Chuck was born April 5, 1949 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Alvin and Alice (Bice) Bentley. He married Nancy Klemme July 27, 1996 in Clinton, Iowa.
He was employed at International Paper for 33 years; he did paintless dent repair for several years and enjoyed farming and was a farm hand for many years.
Chuck was passionate about hunting and fishing but mostly enjoyed his time spent with his family. He was always helping others and never asked for anything in return.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy; children Kristine (Stanley McCrudden) Bentley of Savanna, IL; Michael Bentley of Clinton, IA and Holly (C.J.) Smith of Panama City, FL; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one on the way; siblings, Roger (Joy) Bentley of Clinton, IA; Mary (Michael) Krogman of Clinton, IA; Lois Simmons of Chester, VA; Beth (Mike) Reckman of Davenport, IA; Thomas (Diane) Bentley of Chaska, MN and Jerry (Char) Bentley of Mill Creek, WA; special aunts, Rose Fuhrmann of Bettendorf, IA and Tamie Bice of Beaverton, OR and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Steve Simmons and nephew John Simmons.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
