Charles “Bama” E. Sampson, 72, of Davenport formerly of Clinton passed away Monday, January 12, 2026 at his home-Davenport.
Funeral Services will be 12:00 (Noon) Saturday, January 17, 2026 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the service time at the funeral home.
Charles Edwin Sampson was born on November 22, 1953 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the son of James Johnson and Mary Magdalene McMiller. He served in the United States Army from 1970-1974 and then he worked at ADM for many years and also worked construction and as a restaurant line cook. He loved watching sports, was an avid Chicago Bears fan and really loved watching his son Trey play basketball. He enjoyed shopping, cooking, catering to his community doing different outreach work and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his five children Mary Sampson of Davenport, Miranda Anderson of Davenport, Trey Sampson of Davenport, Kobe Sampson of Davenport and Charlie Sampson of Cedar Rapids; 10 grandchildren De’Carter, Liseona, Jaley, Ka’I, Ka’Mia, Jaylah, Jalasia, Eniyah, Legaci and Legend; sister Ivy Beck of Atlanta, Georgia, and significant other: Elizabeth Ramirez of Davenport. Charles was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
