Catherine Thomsen's Obituary
Catherine Thomsen, 88, of Clinton, passed away Friday, July 15, 2016, at the Harbor Crest Home, Fulton, Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Clinton. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until the service hour Tuesday at the Church. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Catherine was born February 10, 1928 in Charlotte, Iowa, the daughter of Eduard and Marie (Luff) Andresen. She was an Elvira High School graduate and received her associate’s degree from Coe College in Cedar Rapids. Catherine married Eugene Thomsen on August 3, 1952 in Elvira, Iowa; he died July 21, 1972.
She had been employed in housekeeping at Wyndcrest Nursing Home for more than 17 years, retiring in 1990.
Catherine was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and she loved her Lord.
Survivors include her daughters, Janet (Rick) McIlvain of Memphis, TN; Lois (Douglas) Sherman of Costa Rica; Christine King (Thomas Colschen) of Clinton; IA; Paula (David) Cronk of Arnold, MO and Linda Bennett of Clinton, IA; 13 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and six step great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Henrietta Kooi.
Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.
