Catherine Fuqua's Obituary
Catherine E. "Katie" Fuqua, age 84, of Camanche, IA, died Monday, August 31, 2009, at Manor Care Nursing Home in Rolling Meadows, IL. Visitation will be from 4-7pm Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig. Services will be held at 1pm Thursday September 3, 2009 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Jim Garcia, Mike Linder, Jim Macke, Wayne (Jurgie) Jurgenson, Dale Sandvig and Larry McElroy. Catherine E. McCloy was born August 22, 1925 in Sugar Creek, Iowa, the daughter of Orie and Anna (Banowetz) McCloy. She was a 1944 graduate of Delmar High School. She married Jack Kettering March 26, 1949 in Santa Barbara, CA. She later married H.C. Fuqua December 20, 1959 in Las Vegas, NV. "Katie" was the owner of Millie's Tavern in Camanche for many years and was also a cook at the Clinton County Jail, prior to retiring in 1990. She had been a member of the Eagles and AMVET Auxiliaries. Survivors include her sons, Dr. Randy (Dr. Ilene) Kettering of Palatine, IL and Rick Kettering of Ventura, CA; daughter, Vicki Gregory of Olathe, KS; 5 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; brothers, Robert McCloy of Clinton, James (Shirley) McCloy of Maquoketa, Joseph (Madonna) McCloy of Delmar and Eugene (Arledta) McCloy of Miles; and sisters, Mary Frondle of Sabula and Ruth (Kenneth) Gerlach of Delmar. Katie was preceded in death by her parents. Memorials may be made to The American Lung Association.
