Carol A. Smith, 80, of Camanche, passed away, Sunday, November 2, 2025 at Mercy
One Genesis-East – Davenport, Iowa.
Funeral Services will be 10:00am, Friday, November 7, 2025 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00-7:00pm at the funeral home.
Carol Ann Housenga was born on April 26, 1945 in Clinton, the daughter of Menno and Anna (Otto) Housenga. She was a 1963 graduate of Clinton High School. She married Leo Smith on January 25, 1969 in Clinton; he died June 19, 2019.
Carol operated the Craft Barn in Camanche and the Frame Shop in Clinton for many years. She was also a bank teller at FirstStar/US Bank. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Iowa State Cyclone fan. She enjoyed bowling, reading, and doing jigsaw puzzles. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandkids.
Carol is survived by her son: Timothy Smith of Des Moines, Iowa; her daughter: Deborah (Douglas) Dodson of Camanche; three grandchildren: Dylan (Lea), Drake, and Danika Dodson; and her sister: Connie (Randy) Nielsen of Fulton. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her brother: Robert.
