Carl John Planthaber Jr.'s Obituary
Carl John Planthaber, Jr., 76, of Camanche, Iowa died Sunday, September 26, 2021 at his home. Visitation will take place Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 10 – 11:00AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Camanche. Services will be held Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 11:00AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Camanche. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Carl was born January 31, 1945 in Morrison, Illinois, the son of Carl John and Mary Elizabeth (Reynolds) Planthaber, Sr. He was a High School graduate and attended Kirkwood Community College Truck Driving School. Carl was a member of the Iowa National Guard for six years from 1966 to 1972. He married Wanda Christine Botts September 30, 1967 in Earlville, Illinois.
He had been employed at International Paper for more than 38 years and as a truck driver for Schneider Trucking for nine months, retiring in 2007.
Carl was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Camanche. He was a Green Bay Packer Fan, “Go Pack GO”, he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and his GTO.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda of Camanche; children, Christine (Lloyd) McKenna of Prophetstown, IL; Craig Planthaber of Camanche, IA; Cherie Planthaber of Camanche, IA and Cinda (Tim) Bly of New Boston, IL; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and sisters, Barb (Don) Skibbe and Sue (Cal) Wing both of Morrison, IL.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Jane and Carley; mother-in-law, Marilyn Botts and brother-in-law, Steven Botts.
