Carl D. Nelson's Obituary
Carl D. Nelson, 86, of Camanche passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at his home – Camanche.
Graveside Services will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Camanche. Serving as pallbearers will be Tammy Campie, Duane Campie and Kim Hoenig. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 pm at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home before going in procession to the cemetery. Carl Dwayne Nelson was born April 14, 1934 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Marvin and Marie (Leslie) Nelson. He was a 1953 graduate of Clinton High School. He married Beverly Shadle on September 13, 1953; she preceded him in death on December 29, 2003. He served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1962. Carl worked for ALCOA as a furnace operator for 37 years when he retired in 1994.
Carl was a member of the Lutheran Church in Camanche. He enjoyed time spent with his family and friends.
He will be dearly missed by his two children: Dwayne Nelson of Camanche and Becky (Wayne Nastruz) Nelson of Camanche; and one brother Richard Nelson of Clinton.
Carl was preceded in death by his wife, parents and one sister.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.
