Calvin Ocker's Obituary
Calvin C. Ocker, 77, of Camanche, Iowa, died Saturday, January 19, 2008 at his home.
Funeral Services will be 10:00am, Friday, January 25, 2008 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jess Limke, Michael Anderson, Ben Anderson, Matthew Bang, John Tynan, Jr., and Bill Rowe. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00-7:00pm at the funeral home.
Calvin Charles Ocker was born on February 2, 1930 in Scobey, Montana, the son of Willis and Anna (Tong) Ocker. He married Ruth Klemme on February 6, 1953 in San Diego, California.
Cal was a 1948 graduate of Scobey High School. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving in the Korean Conflict from 1951-1954.
Cal was a department manager at the Sears & Roebuck Store in Clinton for 25 years. He later owned and operated the Bright Spot Café in Camanche with his wife.
Cal was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Camanche and a member of the Camanche VFW.
Cal is survived by his wife: Ruth of Camanche; three daughters: Margaret ?Peggy? (John) Tynan of Kissamee, Florida, Joleen ?Bergie? (Burl) Anderson of Silvis, Illinois, and Cindy (Ed) Bang of Bennett, Colorado; one son: Charlie (Shelley) Ocker of Sycamore, Illinois; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; three sisters: Betty Lou (Earl) Burgett of Port Townsend, Washington, Wilma Moses of Billings, Montana, and Arliss (Don) Engstrom of Great Falls, Montana.
Cal is preceded in death by his parents, and one brother.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the family.
